Just formatted an old laptop, installed a dl'd version of Media Center, and now I have to go through and identify every driver and download them one by one.
Is there a free program like Driver Detective that will at least id the drivers I need, so I can go and search for them?
Well, I know the most important drivers are for your GPU, and Sound Card. So you can just tell us what they are and wee can look for the drivers.
actually what i do when i fix peoples pcs is like with laptops most of the parts are stock so go to the laptop manufacturers website (dell, sony or whatever it is) and look up the model you have and it should have a list of every driver and program you can DL that came with your laptop.. most every company does that nowadays.. unless its super old lol
I was there once back... A Dell Laptop... I went to the Dell Website and I got most of the things from there.. Including the touch pad drivers etc.
That's your best bet..
Yeah, I know most of the specs for it, just have to go through device manager and see what has the yellow triangle of doom beside it. It's not hard to do, I know that, but I just felt like being lazy, I know driver detective did all the work for ya. Thanks, guess I'll be going the long way 'round. Won't be hard to do, just takes time.
Thanks fer the link guys, gonna really help out. I'm still trying to figure out why the wireless isn't working on the damn laptop, I guess I need to find the right driver. Well, I'm off to work, latah.
