i modded my friends psp. The main thing that bowled him over about CFw was that you could play games from memory card. Well, his PSP bricked and he is blaming it on a virtual copy of GTA that i gave him. I'm PRETTY SURE he's running 3.71 M33-4. I can still access the recovery. When i try to turn it on normally, it loads the background, waves, then tries to read from the memory card. That's the end of it.
Good News: It's not bricked; if you can access the recovery it's only a semi-brick.

Well, first off, that's not a brick, it's a semi-brick.
Secondly, he probably did some messing around in flash0 without telling you and fudgeed up the memstick reader plugin.
Thirdly, why don't you just Pandorify it? That would solve everyone's problem in one simple move. It would give him a fresh PSP with no fuss.
yeah, pandora is such an easy answer....its like formatting windows instead of removing the viruses

Don't replace the whole entire Flash0 with a backup. I think this would cause problems, is not 100% the same if it gets copied over.
Just replace the folder called "resources" in vsh. That's all you have to do. When you go into XMB, your psp is trying to load one of your RCOS, hence semibricking. That's it.

Hope your friend "doomsday" is not asking for a new psp.. That's why you don't ever "mod" friends psp.. Is a bit you know risky.
lol the first time I used pandora was on a friends PSP.....now I realize that was a bit risky seeing that it wasn't even bricked or anything...... the only thing I ever done in Flash 0 is changing themes but I have hacked over 8 PSPs that weren't mine.....damn I could've got a tidy profit from them if only they weren't my friends :( lol I can't believe that I haven't charged one person for a downgrade.....I feel stupid....
