sticky my other computer upstairs is about 8 years old now and at its time was one of the best you could get costing my dad £1,200. And still its start up takes about 30 - 40 secs
Why was skynet eXx1l3d?
meh.. easy way is just to keep two HDDs in your pc and keep windows on one and everything else on the other... adaware and antivirus never work right... best to just erase it all.. not too mention its just good to reinstall windows every once in a while so you don't suffer from 'bit rot'

I hope you know that Linux does have viruses, the numbers are in the neighborhood of one million.
