Cabe and I have recently gotten back into Starcraft: Brood Wars. It will always be one of my favorite games. I remember some of my old tactics, such as pylon on 7, depot on 8, and ovie on 7, and so on and so forth. Anyways, Cabe and I want to have more people play so wee can do 2v2s and Free for alls. Maybe wee can start doing UMS (use map settings) games where wee play RPGs, defense games, custom games, and so many others.

I have been helping Cabe get better and would love to have more people join up, because you HAVE to get better to take on more than one opponent. It completely changes your tactics. Anyone remember allying up against the 3rd opponent? Or how about the old, lure an enemy to the 3rd enemy's base? Maybe you know they both love to rush constantly? Then you put up a defense and let them duke it out in the middle. Then come in and nuke em all Big Grin

If you don't have Starcraft: Brood Wars, you can pick up both the original and the expansion Brood Wars at many Walmarts and Electronics stores by buying the "Battle Chest" for about 20 USD. Please join us. Wee are usually on the USEast and USWest servers. His name is niteo USEast/USWest
mine are Hellgiver/Hellgiver87 Hellgiver = USEast, Hellgiver87 = USWest

Of course, there are many pages of strategies out there, and I'd love it if you guys could add here whenever you find a particularly good strategy that has worked for you well. I'd suggest going to gamefaqs, a SC clan site, or some place that is huge on game tips. If you join us, wee can all learn together. I used to play 2v2 on small maps with a couple friends, and wee'd excelled at quick play, so wee could have little teams that go around practicing. Battle.net is the place to be!
Starcraft was good but I was never a fan of rush based rts games.
starcraft was fun.. im a base builder though.. i just sit and build and collect resources the attack with nukes... total annihilation was the best.. add a few 3rd part units and i can make a base that last for days without being destroyed.. without me even being there to watch it lol  AI is too dumb to nuke back or to attack my auto targeter
Some people also feel that way, so they have game restrictions like No Rush 5 minutes or so, which results in lots of expanding and battles at expansions rather than games that end quickly or involve just putting constant pressure from the start.  I just want some people to play with.
I used to play Starcraft a lot - haven't played it in a long time - would love to play with someone, to see how I go (probably pretty bad).

I wouldn't consider Starcraft a "rush based" game.  Sure, you generally should attack early, but if you commit all your efforts early on, you'll definitely loose to a more experienced player.  Since the 1.09 patch, the famous 6 zergling rush is also much more difficult to do...

So who else is in?
I always cheated.

"need a light?"
lol good idea, wee should all start playing again and make our own clan. i still have my Broodwars CD but i uninstalled starcraft and lost my key T_T

i was planning to wait for Starcraft 2 to come out, but i guess I'll probably be on sometimes this weekend or the next, i just have to wait til i go to Walmart or Target.

MmMmm Scenarios, Bounds, and RPG's.

Depends how he defines "rush"

By "rush", you're thinking a sacrificial opening manouver that sacrifice development to build early units to try and surprise the enemy and hope for an early win.

By "rush", he may just means a fast paced game...

Most RTS are rather slow, and some, it takes like at least 1/2hr until you're in any position to attack at all. Compared to them, starcraft in a whole, is a rush. (I personally hate really slow RTS... i will never want to play a game that takes like 5hrs... what a waste of time + i generally have to leave before finishing + what's the fun of sitting there watching nothing happening...)

Depends on how early u class early.

If u try to 4pool someone, then yeah, if you do not succeed the rush, then you'll be severely under-developed, and any counterattack will most likely finish the game.

But if you use a "safer" rush, that does not leave you too behind... and if it's not high level play, u can easily recover.

That's the typical definition of "rush".  The other similar definition would be to "charge" (more used in FPS type games).

The appropriate word would be "fast paced" not "rushed".
Besides, you can always turn the speed down - just basically everyone over the net has it on max speed though.

As said above, that wouldn't be a rush, more an "early attack" :P

By the way, is there any planned time?
i use to do my early attacks and plan them well :P  even if i don't succeed elimitating the enemy i slow them down a lot.

my first objective is always the command center =^^= if i succeed to destroy it then he'll be finished and if not he'll be greatly slowed down.
