Wow, man, kick donkey! I'm definitely gonna try this if I ever get a spare $300......lol (between getting a MBP and a Cintiq12WX it's gonna be a while....
)
So if wee find the exact model of graphics card Apple uses in, say, the Mac Pro then wee can stick it in without any problems? Cause I do a lot of graphically intensive stuff and so it would be great to have a dedicated card for it.
I can't really guarantee anything will work, but if it works in the Mac Pro then why wouldn't it work in any PC? If they don't put it in the Mac Pro standard, it still might work, but you can't be sure (and you can't 'download mac drivers for other hardware' cause it wouldnt make sense, you see).
As of now, the Mac Pro officially supports the nVidia Geforce 8800GT, so that should do :P However, I don't know if the hacked version supports it. It seems the apple graphics cards have special firmware on them and so do their motherboards, but wee're using a third-party motherboard anyway so that might not matter. Though, I guess it's a matter of trying until someone confirms it. If I manage to build this I might be able to test the 8800GT support cause my friend is getting one soon.
Oops, sorry, I meant Macbook Pro. But I see what you mean.
You won't be able to find notebook graphics cards (M series) available seperately though, unless it's built onto the motherboard (Intel etc)
poo poo. Also, is there any way to add Wi-Fi to the computer? Like does Apple sell Airport cards?
