Assassinator Wrote:It seems that none of you guys bother cropping the videos... I'm kinda picky, and prefer to crop away the black boarders on the edges when encoding, to get clean edges (which the fansub encoders do also). But don't mind me, u do whatever u want to do.

huh? mine are all cropped... most of them arent 4:3 ratio may be what you mean... all the ones i do are 16:9 so if you not using a widescreen moniter you will have black boarders.. sorry not much i can do about that.. i did notice one that had weird egdes on the side but ill fix it

I don't mean anything to do with aspect ratio. I don't mind either 4:3 or 16:9.

What i mean is for DVDs, theres generally some black boarders on the edge, about few pixels wide. When u actually watch the DVD on a TV, u don't notice it, because that's on the edge of the TV, and probably hidden by the frame of the TV screen anyways. But if u play it on a computer, u can notice black boarders.

You use xvid4psp right? When u load your vob file, it will show you a screen with a preview of the file u inputted, and on the left, there are options for you to crop the video. (I'm not at home right now, and is writing on memory about a program i don't use... if u can't find it, my bad).
Ok. From the conversation wee had above, i just couldn't resist doing this. Aha

Lunar Legend Tsukihime ED Sequence.  «- Experimental small size encode...

The whole thing is only 2MB in size (2049KB. 1KB larger than 2MB exactly).

Try it, it doesn't actually look and sound that bad at all. Even provided you with 2 subtitle streams (srt ofcourse).

EDIT: Thing of the past. I can do way better now using avs filters and everything.
Triple post?

...

ef - the latter tale OP? I extracted out of the trailer.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OGGDIRN0

24MB. (Would've wanted it smaller, but the 2nd half compressed very badly, lots of fast moving scene changes and rotating cameras and stuff making temporal compression ineffective. Didn't want to compromize quality)

Being ef... it looks visually excellent. Song is called "Emotional Flutter".

...

poo poo, I just realised I'm a retard and wrote the name wrong. Should be "ef - the latter tale", not "ef - the later tale".

And they're created with some 29.97»25 blend decimation that is extremely hard to reverse. Something along the lines of merging 6 frames into 5 by blending the frames together. (At least the anime here in Australia are. If you're in Europe, you may be lucky, and that isn't so)

If you look through it (your Neon Genesis encode), there will be a whole lot of blended frames. In telecined material, each field is clean, and the blending occurs when the fields are put together = reversible, match-the-fields and remove doubled = IVTC. For this, each field is already blended = retarded = wee're screwed.

At the start, I though wee PAL people are lucky that wee don't need to IVTC like the NTSC people do. Then I realised this, and exactly how unlucky wee are.

At least the movies here aren't like that. The few movies I've encoded are perfectly fine. So far I've only seen the anime DVDs using this method. So yeah, for the movies, yeah, wee're lucky wee get more resolution. For anime, definately not.
