Okay, I've been playing around with different music editing programs, and so far i like Sony Acid the best. The problem is that I want to be able to record my own samples, but I don't have the money or space for a full keyboard or synthesizer or anything like that. That's why my request is going to be a bit weird. Is there a music program that lets me map different sounds to the different keys on my computer's keyboard so I can still do real-time sort of stuff?
There are several app's that allow you to 'make' music sounds etc which might be more what you need. For example Propellerheads Reason is an absolutely awesome program that is really easy to learn as well.

For pseudo real-time stuff you can mix sounds with things like Fruiy Loops Studio but it can be a twat to get your head around.

First to respond as usual, eh? And yes, I know how much of a twat FL studio can be to use. I struggled with it for about a week before i just gave up
The thing is though, once you crack the surface, it blows all the other competition away.

I hear Ableton Live 7 is the new industry standard, expensive, but nice - Fairly basic interface and very adaptable.  I like Acid and Cool Edit Pro (R.I.P)
