well i decided to use a partition manager boot disc to merge my extra 6gb split on my hd

Paragon boot disc i used

well normally if you merge a drive with another drive it creates a folder on the drive it merged with containing all its files

for example drive a merged with drive b
a folder would appear on the new merged drive b called drive a and contain its files

so i merged the 6gb with the 143gb windows partitioned hd

well my pc wouldnt boot

guess what it made a folder in the new hd and put all my 143gb hd files in it

well im using the boot disc to put them back at the root of C and i hope i can fix the boot record and it will boot

its also asking for a chkdisk but i can't find that option in paragon boot disc

how can i do this without booting windows

please help UG may know the answer

boot from the windows XP cd and in the recovery console run chkdsk.

Also tell me the EXACT error it gives when trying to boot your system.

Not sure if this will help, but has some useful things on it.
Has a simple DOS OS that can run chkdisk, I think.
off topic @ squee how's manchester doing, I havn't asked you since you last said you were going.
well it says 20minutes left to move files to root of C:/

but it was saying it couldnt find NTDIR or something very similar

oh its doing fine by the way
can't find NTDIR may mean you need to run fixboot and fixmbr as well from the winxp cd.
