I always see it as
Mars
Venus
Jupiter
Mercury

Mars is fire
Venus is earth, encompasing grass based
Jupiter is wind, incorporating thunder
Mercury is water, incorpotating ice
Mercury hurts mars, who hurts venus, who hurts Jupiter, who hurts mercury

The only bug is that venus, who is primary earth, hurts jupiter who is primarily air based
But that's based on secondary so it does fit really

I use golden sun for the elements, but it works out, and fits well
Its open to interpretation, as the secondary ability shows, completely flipping the chart based on the developers choice i suppose

Interestingly, there's almost always 3 basic elements in all games:
  • Fire
  • Water / Ice
  • Thunder

Well, it should be obvious that Water/Ice is powerful against Fire, and Thunder is strong against Water (maybe not Ice).  But what is Fire strong against?

wait. thunder should be useless here since it is just a sound. . . I think you mean 'Lightning'. . .
actually, in many RPG's it is defined as thunder...
Normally in RPGs with those elements there's never a triangle. So plant monsters will be the ones being burnt, water monsters will get electrocuted and fire monsters will get drenched.

Normally in RPGs though there's more elements then that. Such as Earth, Wind, Ice, Light, Dark, Void...
double you tee eff... this is random insanity. idont want to be lucid lol
Then it would make it

Earth over Thunder
Thunder over Water/Ice
Water Over Fire
Fire over Ice
Ice over Earth

Light in even match with darkness
Simple solution.

fire><ice
people are forgetting Heart ;_;

Indeed, typical elements, Fire, Water and Thunder are too bland...

Typically, Fire/Ice/Thunder are still the basic elements.  I think most Squaresoft games follow it.  Pokemon, it's more plant than thunder...

Anyways, there should be Ice Cream, Hot Potato and Electric Tomato elements if you ask me >_>
DARK CLOUD ONLY HAS FIVE ELEMENTS. FIRE, ICE, THUNDER, WIND AND HOLY. NICE AND SIMPLE
