Quote:Heads up, Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew fans - more info has just been released about the upcoming Custom Firmware 3.80 M33, direct from Mathieulh himself. No, it's not yet released, but there is a special bit of news that should make you eager for its arrival all the more - and it has something to do with the way it's going to update your PSP.
So, what's the new info? First off, an exact ETA of the firmware itself - that is, tomorrow. Apparently, a lot of people were expecting it to be released today, but due to an unexpected delay of sorts, it didn't happen.
The reason for this - and brace yourself - is that Dark_AleX has made it so that this new firmware would update the same exact way that Sony's official firmwares do, via WiFi. That means that it's going be a hassle-free, no-messy-installation-needed update (of course, you have to access Network Update for it), and certainly a very welcome addition to the host of features the custom firmware brings.
It could also mean that from now on, all updates will be cumulative - that is, if you've been out of the loop for quite a while and suddenly upgrade to the latest firmware, you won't have to go through the long, hard slog of upgrading through the previous firmwares you've missed. Convenient, and definitely justifies the 24-hour delay.
More news about this upcoming treat from Dark_AleX as it develops.

QJ Wrote:More good news about the highly-anticipated Sony PlayStation Portable 3.80 M33 custom firmware, and this bit comes directly from none other than Mathieulh himself. It seems that as of this writing, the unreleased custom firmware is already in proper working order and boots perfectly. It runs all existing homebrew program in User Mode as well. This in itself should already be great news, as wee're pretty much guaranteed a safe, non-bricking and still awesome CFW to play with. Why, then, isn't it released yet?
Mathieulh reports that there are still something that Dark AleX needs to iron out before declaring 3.80 M33 a finished product - namely, the NIDs Resolver that allows the launch of homebrew programs in Kernel mode. It will also help in making sure that all the plug-ins present will be usable without any extensive modifications. It's safe to say that while this doesn't sound like much, it's still a very important (and very time-exhaustive) thing to work on, so wee'll just have to be patient until DAX ties up all the loose ends.
UPDATE: Those hoping to pick up the 3.80 M33 custom firmware may have to wait a few more days. It's come to our attention that Mathieulh has given a small update on the work for the CFW. According to him, work is currently being finished on the NIDs Resolver, and wee may very well see a release within the next week or so.
That being said, wee suppose everyone will just have to keep patient in the meantime. Wee'll keep checking around for updates, just in case in comes out sooner than expected, so feel free to keep QJ bookmarked for the latest updates on the upcoming CFW.
