although the ps3 is slow right now there r a few good titles which would release for it n it should pickup some steam but i think the 360 is just a notch up on the ps3

Right now, I own a PS3.
I think with Blu Ray winning the next-gen format war; it looks as if I've made the right long term choice. :D

I want a PS360. That way I can have the best of both worlds.

No competition, the PS3 might be missing the games at the minute but the hardware is top notch, plus I don't want to burn my house down so I won't ever be getting a 360.

PS3. I have an Xbox 360 and despite a couple of kickass games, and awesome online service, I'm really disappointed. The thing is louder than a jet engine, it's fairly ugly, hotter than hell, and Microsoft's refusal to allow 3rd party hard drives is asinine.
The PS3, while kinda slow on the game side right now, is definitely gonna be picking up speed this year with MGS4, MGO, LittleBigPlanet, The Agency, and Haze. Plus, the hardware is sleek, sexy and shiny. I'm not gonna buy one until they pack in the Dualshock 3, though.

Ditto.

any system could do the job since 3rd party games are released for both platforms
the only downside for the ps3, is the lack of exclusives, but with the arrival of mgs4, I'm pretty sure you won't regret your choice (if you intend to buy one )
personally i prefer my 360, and the noise is bearable, so that won't be a problem, also there are to much great exclusives i.e Mass effect, halo3, overlord, bioshock
that's why it's such an hard choice

The only reason I disagree with you on "exclusives" is that many x360 games end up on PC later on...so not really worth it imo..I'd go with ps3 anyway...
