Ok, I got blindsided by a friend who needs me to downgrade her slim psp tomorrow.  I have done absolutely NO research into this because its never been an issue for me, until now.  So, I saw the downgrader tut (was it UC that did it?  Can't remember), and it seems straightforward enough, make the files on memstick, make the pandora battery, I can handle it.  But backing up the keys?  Is there a tut I can follow?

I'm not gonna be able to get back onto ep until about 9pm, or most likely any other form of inter webs for that matter, so, while I would normally google until I found an answer, I'm gonna be in a time crunch tonight.  Can someone please post links for me to get the keys dumped and backed up?  Tutorials would be great, so I can do the reading mahself, I don't expect anyone to waste time writing instructions for me if the tuts are out there.

I'm a total noob with the slim, any links or advice would be greatly appreciated.  I'm usually good at doing mah own research, you can imagine how embarrassing it is for me to put out a distress call like this.  Hope you can allow me a thread like this every so often.  Got to race home in nine hours and start prepping for it.
OK safety first ,  you should make a nand Backup - this is the most impotant thing to do once or before downgrade. This way you can be sure that if something goes wrong you can always have a good dump of this PSP.

do the nand dump , and you should be ok.
i think u mean battery backup right
all u need to do is press square to backup ur battery's keys
n then after finishing the pandora install u can change ur battery back to normal by pressing L+R
the battery backup features r present in the panodra battery creator software on the psp
n make a nand backup as well
IDstorage keys are contained in the nand dump
So, backing up the keys just refers to the battery?  Ok, got it, and the nand backup?  I just skimmed the Pandora tut, is this done in the process, or do I need to get another program to do it.

Yes, I'm THAT big a noob at this...And should I use chilly willy's Key cleaner afterwords, or is it not necessary?
nand backup is done in the process by selecting an option
i don think u will need to use chilly willy key cleaner
Once you had pandora you should read the readme. ;P

Quote:Battery and ms will work on all psp and slims to this date.

Unbricking:

- Press X to install 3.71M33.

- Press O to install original 3.71 (rest of the process as the X option)

- Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.

- Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin[/b]

This proccess is very dangerous, and you should *just* use it if it's your
last chance to get it working.

This is a physical restore process (not a logical one), and will try to make
a 100% exact clon of the dump.

If you are working with a dump that isn't yours, you will get either a brick
or a corrupt idstorage, depending on the firmware.
Haven't downloaded it yet, just read the tut, so I haven't seen the readme yet, G.
Thanks for the quick response guys, gonna prep the memstick and battery now, and hope I don't screw sumthin' up.  Seems pretty straightforward, though.
Well you could do 2 things : make nand backup before downgrading or after it.
I think its better to make one before ...
Yarr, did so on mine last night to test it out, I am now officially 3.71 (m33-4, of course) and have a Pandora battery and memstick to boot.  Got the backup nand on mah Pandora stick just in case, but all seems well.  Thanks fer the help, all.
