Ok so i bought a proper 1/4 inch jack microphone for my beatboxing because my webcam mic was spoon. so i got it and i also go the 3.5 mm stero to 1/4 in adaptor with it but when i got home i switch the mic on (it doesn't have a light to tell me if its switched on or not but it just has the up and down on and off) and i plugged it the 3.5mm bit into the microphone port but then computer is reading it as disconnected. Could someone shed some light on my problem
your 3.5mm to 1/4 adapter might be a 3 way converting to a 2 way. May not be picking up the contacts. did you get a 3 to 3 adapter or a 2 to 2?
the adapter shouldnt make a difference, at least from my experience. if you've got something else you can plug the mic into try it on that. otherwise it might be that the adapter is stopping you from plugging it in properly because the outer casing of the adapter is larger than most plugs. it might just be that there isn't enough space around the plug for it to fit properly. if all else fails, send it back.
ok well i will try it in my back ports and see what happens
computer is now reading it but if i speak into it doesn't make a sounds when i go to setup the mic
go into start, accesories, entertainment, Volume control. check that the mic isn't muted or turned down. click options, properties, and click the recording radio button and then ok. make sure the the checkbox under the mic slider is selected. also go into control panel and find the sound options, go to the audio tab and make sure that the recording drop down box is set to the soundcard and not the webcam mic. I've had that problem in the past.
im on vista so its totaly different
double click on the sound icon in your task bar that will open the sound settings.
Seriously, amzter, don't double post within 2 minutes...
