If you mean the 40 median, yes, that's bad. Very very bad. However it's currently just people hating, should go back up later.
Here's the current toplist, of everything with a median score of 90 or above.
So if you want to know what Japan thinks is the best, well that's it.
White Album 2 - Closing Chapter
Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO
Muv-Luv Alternative
Baldr Force
Fate/Stay Night
Cross+Channel
Soukou Akki Muramasa
Subarashiki Hibi -Furenzoku Sonzai-
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Kazoku Keikaku
Parfait -Chocolat 2nd Brew-
Baldr Sky Dive 2 - "RECORDARE"
Baldr Sky Dive 1 - "Lost Memories"
Tsukibako (Tsukihime)
Sengoku Rane
Kichikuou Rance
Also, Clannad and Ever17 aren't on this list, but also have median >90.
I've played 4 of those I guess.
hmmm. interesting. i might consider these as recommendations.

Never play Sengoku Rance, not the right thing for you. You'll hate it.
For Cross+Channel and Kazoku Keikoku (Family Project), keep in mind that they are top tier because of the author's writing style. Writing styles are completely lost in a translation (imagine reading Shakespeare in Japanese, doesn't work), so you won't be able to enjoy them as much as the Japanese did.
i figured Rance was a "no go"
ah so the meaning as been lost.

Meaning isn't lost in translations, style is.

kinda interested when one showed me,, but in the middle of making thesis now
Hey guys - I was just browsing a site (that I can't link to b/c of it's warez content) and found a thread which lead me to this mediafire account:
http://www.mediafire.com/?e3xbay86weffz
It has tons of visual novels in PSP format. I believe many are in English.
Since I'm not an anime fan, I am unsure of how relevant this is, but posted anyway in hopes that someone finds it useful.
~ shizzy out... :)
if i knew more about that one. i could be more interested.
by the way who are you?
