That guy's a little dumb I think. By disassociating himself from piracy, he's not helping his sales in any way, not to mention that he made the direct assumption that custom firmware = piracy. (if he were smarter, he probably would've tried to direct your attention to some hardware)

although the next guy i talked to, was very interested in PSP customization... i only said i would take games that were "not being produced anymore" such as GBA and below kind of thing...
