is there a way to recover files from a complete format and reinstall of a windows hard disk? cause that's what my friend has done and now she wants her pics back, i have seen these file recovery progs but i don't trust them

If you reformatted the hd, No

as yoyo said there is nothing u can do about it

Though file recovery does have a slim chance if you only did a quick format.  Meh, figure out how to do it yourself...

its probably more time doing it than is worth but if the hdd was very full before the format theres a good chance they could be recovered, but like was said, probably not worth that effort.
