Endless Paradigm

I think phpBB is the best free forum software. Why? It has a nice interface, some nice features/mods, and looks clean (if you have a decent skin, of course). phpBB is probably the way to go.

but I rather enjoy the shoutbox on my SMF forums.

I preffer phpbb3 and ipb due to the more professional/stylish look for the forum/control panel, mybb looks to childish/playful imo.
