I think this is just a ploy. Either that or Sony's running out of (good) ideas. I believe their whole aim was to make the PSP not very useful by itself, though they do need to give some incentives in firmware updates, I guess.
If anything, I reckon nothing great will be added in future Sony firmwares anyway.

Well they did say that Home (that thingy for ps3) would be coming out on psp as well, i think that would be cool.

I think that's because non-portable consoles have a lot more value if they're like a computer - just look at the success of the modded Xbox.
Portable consoles, on the other hand don't enjoy homebrew as much... or should I say, the PSP is the only console actually good at homebrew.
Dunno though - I'm just guessing. It would be nice to see homebrew on the PSP, however, I'm somewhat doubting that.

I do not think sony will ever allow homebrew, and if they do i bet they will have to pick what homebrew can and can't be played, and wee all here know that they will stop iso's from being played and just with that being said alone you know nobody's going to update just for that...
