Not bad.  I had 11 on my old XP machine.  But since I have a better machine, I start more - currently 18 (16 if you ignore Process Explorer) :P

is that all, i have 66 :P (not that its a good thing)
About 30 or so, but that's running normally.

If i really want to cut it down, like close all the anti-virus, firewall, sound and video progs, and other stuff like that, i can probably push it to like 20 or less.

@ Zinga..... u have 4 counts of svchost. i have like 7. Is that right, or do i have spoon (virus or spyware) on my computer or something...

Most of them are services.  Possible viruses - if you have Process Explorer NT, just check the path of the svchost.exe (if it's SYSTEM32, then it's valid, if anywhere else, it's a virus).

Go into Start » Run » compmgmt.msc » Services to get rid of a few.  I nLite'd my XP to automatically disable services so I don't bother :P
