Google checkout is still used quite a bit, it's still young and can't really stand up against paypal yet, but at least it's not so fudgeing annoying. Oh, and it isn't owned by eBay.

Can wee get back on topic?! Here I'm trying to start a lucrative art commissions business and you guys are discussing PayPal alternati-wait, I should probably listen to this. Is there something better than PayPal? Cause it seems like it's the simplest way to do online money.

Paypal is the simplest, it's just not very good.
Google checkout isn't ready yet really (it works great, it just isn't very widely used yet).
And there is no other viable and secure alternative.

i prefer paypal, because google checkout is owned by google (that's a little obvious, i know, but if you saw the movie "google's masterplan", you would understand my point)

K. I just need a simple, straightforward way that my customers' money can go from their hands into my pocket.

You can always sign up first. It won't let you do much till you activate/verify your bank account.

and your strongly reccomended to do so. some people won't pay to an unverified paypal acount. paypal is good but its slow when your recieving money and the charges have to be considered as well. it takes 5-7 working days to transfer money to a bank acount via paypal. so that's effectively 2 weeks of real time. one slightly good thing is if your transfering more than £50 to your bank acount they don't charge you for that but you still get charged for recieving money.
