Ok this guide is for putting DVD quality movies on your PSP.
1. Firstly download this file
HERE
2. Extract the file with winrar and run the installer inside.(This is what wee will use to rip the DVDs)
3. Put the DVD into the drive and open Magic DVD Ripper.
4. Pick "Copy main movie" and pick you destination directory. Then press start.
5. You should now have a bunch of .VOB files and a few other files that wee don't need to worry about. Delete the ones wee don't need to worry about:wink:
6. Now open up Notepad and type the following
Code:
pause
copy/b 1.VOB+2.VOB+3.VOB+4.VOB movie.VOB
pause
|
7. According to how many .VOB files there are this file will be different. e.g.if there are 5 .VOB files you will have to add a +5.VOBafter the +4.VOB. The movie.VOB will be the name of the movie that appears in your PSP menu.
8. Go to file/save as and change the type of file to all files. Then save it as combine.bat in the directory of your .VOB files.
9. Now name each of the .VOB file from whatever they are already(Usually VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB etc,) to 1.VOB, 2.VOB etc,
10. Now once you have done that run the .bat file you created and it should combine each of these files into one big movie.VOB file.
11. Now that you have done that download THIS and extract it.
12. Run 3GP_Converter.exe and set the resolution to 480x272 and the bitrate at 512kbps and then drag and drop the movie.VOB into the space.
13. When its finished your movie should be ready for your PSP. Just stick it in the MP_ROOT/101ANV01 folder in your PSP.
14. To play .VOB and .MP4 and many other video and audio formats I recommend VLC Player which can be found here
If anyone has any problems or suggestions please feel free to post below
Nice tutoriol!!
You can always try a bitrate higher then 512kbps but then you have more mb's to store on your memstick,..
Somewhere I picked up a 3gp with the PSP settings optimized, I think the link came from Zingy, but I can't find it anymore. I'll have to search Hacks for the thread.
I have replaced the donwload link for 3gp with my upload,. its 3gp converter,.. ;)
The old link people had to sign in,.
:)
Oh thanks, Vegetano. That's odd. I just copied it from the other forum I posted it on. By the way is the Magic DVD Ripper like that too?
Not bad. Thanks for the guide, roe-ur-boat.
I'd probably suggest DVDDecrypter and/or DVD Fab Decrypter + FreeDVD instead of that ripping program - these are generally considered to be "the" DVD ripping tools.
Also, DVDDecrypter can automatically join the VOBs (not sure about DVD Fab Decrypter).
To rip using DVDDecrypter:
- Mode menu » IFO
- DVDDecrypter should automatically select your main PGC (program group chain) - you may wish to double check it in the right pane (the main PGC is where the main movie/video is stored in; thus, to check, make sure the PGC with the longest length is selected)
- If your DVD has multiple angles (hardly any do) select the video angle you want to keep in the right pane
- Tools menu » Options » IFO Mode and change the File Splitting listbox to "None", then click OK
- Select where you want to save the files, then start ripping by pressing the big DVD»HDD button
I've never tried DVDDecrypter's Stream Processing feature, so IDK if it can be used to rip out unwanted audio tracks.
Hope that helps.
Nice! but I like putting my movies in my iPod since it has more memory. . . . (only 5gb free space left though)
I prefer large screen over small screen.
Well compressed, I can fit up to 3 movies on my 1GB stick @ 480x272 fairly good quality.
