Still no word on a dedicated online mode.

Monster Hunter remains a decidedly Japanese phenomenon, so it makes sense Capcom would dish out the next installment at Tokyo Game Show. It's not quite Monster Hunter 3, but Monster Hunter Portable 2G is an upgraded version of the million-selling PSP title, released to far less fanfair in the US in August.
Famitsu Online reports that Monster Hunter 2G features new fields, systems and monsters, but a release date is still unknown. As soon as wee know more, wee'll let you know -- but if this isn't a true sequel, a stateside release from Capcom seems unlikely.
Also from other sources it seems as if people playing monster hunter portable 2nd will be able to carry there save games across to this expanded game, if that's true it's great news. I just hope it gets a English release.
