Great guide Zinga, thanks i will try to put it to good use:)
Kinda out of date, now that Sony wonderfully stuck everything into PRXs since 3.50...
i also did the replace and nothing happened, the same stock sound
^ Please give more info, like the exact procedure you did, and what firmware version etc.
I decrypted my own 2.50 RCO since the link didn't work and made my sound and then put it into my flash0 but each time I boot something it remains the same default sound.
This isn't for 3.5x
HowTo change the bootsound in FW 3.5x

1.)  Decrypt your 3.5x opening_plugin.prx
2.)  Create a custom bootsound(VAG or ATRAC3) using some sound editing software.
Make sure the filesize is less or equal 49376-bytes. If it's less
then pad it until it's exactly 49376-bytes long.
3.)  Open your opening_plugin.prx with your favourite Hex-editor.
Select from offset 0x424A to 0x10383 and overwrite it with your custom bootsound file.
4.)  Flash your new opening_plugin.prx and have fun with it :wink2:
      Backup your original opening_plugin.prx !!!
yay google :)

cause I forgot how to do this
