i shall give it a go when you release it.
as for code sample sites i use the forums via this site for help and the site itself for the code samples:
http://www.devx.com/
however i knew it when it was vbworld.net. it does seem to have changed a bit so im not sure how much samples they will still have. but the guys on the forums were extremly helpfull even when you have a hard time explaining exactly what your trying to do.
Books/resources, use anything I guess.  I just read some random book that my dad was using for his Uni/TAFE (can't remember, so long ago lolz) course.

Resources: I learnt a lot from the samples found at http://planetsourcecode.com/ , but that was primarily API related stuff.  For basics, stick to a book.
Yeah, I'm gonna check out my library in a few days and even the book store. I've read a few articles on VB6 for beginners, and a few of them recommended the same "absolute beginner" book for a first-time-best-buy.

I actually have Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Professional. It has VB6, some other things (Visual J++ or something) and also Visual C++. There would be no point me learning Visual C++ would there for this task...? Plus C/C++ seems a bit intimidating for a beginner.

I was considering getting VB .NET 2005, because I'm worried that VB6 will become redundant soon or might have harder resources to find... but after research, VB6 would seem the best. Besides, there would be much more VB6 pro's out there compared to .NET VB I am assuming.

Alrite thanks heaps. That pretty much answers everything now so thanks guys!
