I'm caught up! Whew.

Watched episodes 1-4 last night trying out the English dub. It's not bad - it's actually tolerable which is more than I can say about most dubs. Itsuki is annoying as hell but I don't think changing dub will change that haha.

I wondered how the show's story would be and it's an interesting set up. Ignoring the kinda ridiculous idea that someones Dad would ask his son to street race for him, Takumi could not seem less interested in street racing, even 4 episodes in. I wonder what will make him change his mind about it all? How did he get so good? Has his Dad purposely trained his son to incidentally be the best street racer in town?

Takumi's race against Keisuke should conclude in the next episode but it looks like wee will see more multi-episode races - a sports anime structure, then - which should be fine as long as it remains interesting and the racing doesn't get too ridiculous.

I'm a sucker for the look old titles have - it looks OK considering it's from 1998 - the way they transition from 2D and 3D car models was really weird to begin with but I'm getting used to it.

The racing in episode 4 got me excited to see more which is very positive - a good start overall!

Vroom....!

Thought this wasn't going to kick off but lo & behold becoming very addictive already.

There are the usual classic archetypal characters  which makes this type of anime highly enjoyable.

First of all I want to say, the music is great, I love how it drifts into techno during the races & then quirky little melodic jams during general scenes.

So far I am wondering whether Takumi will embrace being a racer truly & start acting accordingly with a bit of rebelliousness & pair of wrap around sun glasses.

Takeuchi his best friend is annoying but flipping entertaining, if he gets his car... will he be a good racer? If he is, surely he will be reckless, as a reflection of his ridiculous personality.

Natsuki Mogi, Takumis love interest embodies everything that is wrong with a lot of modern females today, pretty damn fine as far as looks go, but absolute garbage comes out of their mouths, run Takumi, run!!
& who is the pervy old man driving her around, I think wee are all hoping that its not her father!

The racing in episode 4 was wicked & you can see how this anime has influenced so much that has followed.

Can't wait to continue...

2 episodes per week though :/
