No, if you say that they'll make you pay for it. Just say it stopped working all of a sudden, which isn't a lie, and they should replace it if it's less than a year old.

and if that happened isn't your bros fault :P how could he know that thing could mess flash?

Its simple just as launch the installer, press X, then shut down at any given moment...

Man, I totally forgot that, maybe that is the problem...

Um no I got no Lumines copy...Erk
I got my psp at firmware 2.50 then I updated to 2.71 and downgraded to 1.5...
Since 1.5... I only did custom firmware updates. (Never (semi-)bricked)

Well maybe SONY is dumb in The Netherlands and they give me a old FW version. :P

A while later he comes back and ask me:
Why does the psp doesn't start.
That bit sounds suspicious.  I mean, if he were playing a game, why would the PSP restart?

But yeah, probably a hardware problem?
I've actually experienced problems with my own PSP randomly 'bricking' itself. It's one I got free, UMD assembly does not work even when replaced with a working one from another same-model PSP, and it won't boot unless the UMD door is off, UMD guts are out, and you're pressing slightly on the backside of the mobo. Flash1 also misbehaves frequently, so I figure the flash chip has come up slightly from the mobo.

Only solution is to replace the mobo, as even the modchips still require a fully functioning board. If you suspect it is bricked instead of hardware failure, I would aquire the Devolution chip, have it installed, and rewrite your flash.
