Watched it today. But really, I just went for the comments.
I actually appreciate that he pretty much openly admitted to liking anime, and it's not your typical music video.

Yeah I agree. Very different, but cool of him to show what he likes.

I hate how there's this sudden stigma tied to anime where you pretty much have to come out of the "anime closet" or some spoon. It's probably due to those people who don't watch anime and think it's all Hentai.
Anyway, can't watch now because of restricted internet. I'll have to watch it on my phone later. Read a Rollingstone article and it mentioned "Pokemon" in the title when talking about this video, so I read the comments and people are saying there's nothing Pokemon related in the video at all. Piqued my interest in it even more, and increased my distaste for the media and how they don't do their research.
Spoiler:
It's probably all of the random fanservice in most anime these days... Feels kind of awkward watching anime in the lab when there's a sudden pantyshot or cleavage shot on the screen. Even worse when the show isn't really Ecchi or anything, it was just that one scene, but the person who walked behind you and saw it thinks you're some kind of perv now. Christ, really.

Surprisingly enjoyable track. Harmless, creative video.
If only people could look at it this simply.
I echo your sentiments, Vacui, but unfortunately most people who watch anime don't really help either. There are parallels between anime watchers and gamers that are fueled by baseless hatred and there doesn't seem to be any way to help the situation. Some say ignorance is an unhelpful approach but I'm afraid that by saying anything for any side you're only feeding the vicious cycles involved.
It's like wee're all zombies, but instead of prodding each other to see if wee're dead, wee're saying things to each other to try and provoke a response. It's unproductive, pointless, pathetic and a by-product of the masses of people living unappreciated comfortable lives who have figured out that this is the best way to spend their time.
The sad thing is that looking at it retrospectively, it's not surprising at all that wee've reached this point.

Eh, there'll always be negative reactions to everything different, if you go looking for them.
To be quite honest, I'd say anime is actually becoming much more widely accepted these days. Society has undergone rapid change, thanks to the internet, and this will likely continue. This basically includes people being more exposed to different cultures and opinions. People may use 'weird' as a reason to discount things they're not used to, but that will change with increasing globalisation.
Stuff in some anime can take a while to get used to if all you've ever been exposed to is western content, so it can take time.
