I was poking around the 3.51 RCO's, just to see what was in there, and I noticed a bit of text that could be a sign of things to come in the future.

I looked at the text data for "game_install_plugin.rco" and found the following:
  • Installation of %1 will start. After starting, you cannot cancel until installation has completed. Do you want to continue?
  • Install completed.
  • Installing... Do not remove the Memory Stick™.
  • The install failed. The data is corrupted.
  • The install failed. The Memory Stick™ could not be accessed.
  • The install failed. The Memory Stick™ is locked.
  • The install failed. There is not enough space on the Memory Stick™. At least %1 more space is needed.
  • The install failed. The Memory Stick™ has been removed.
  • The install failed.
  • Game Data Installation
  • %1 has already been installed.
  • The system software of your PSP™ system is version %1. To install %2, you must update to version %3 or later.
  • The battery level is low.Charge the battery and then try again.
  • This game data cannot be installed.

What I'm thinking is that this shows Sony will release downloadable stuff in the future. Not stuff you download off the internet, but stuff you install from a disc. One thing that came to mind was Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+. Maybe you buy the disc, then install the content from the disk onto your memory stick, then access the new content in the original game. I know Sony is gonna start the "Playstation Spot" download service later this fall, but maybe they'll start releasing content on discs for the Wi-Fi-impaired.
it has already been said that they are goin to have a psp store

with downloadable content, which is games and stuff

but nice find :great:
nice find metalgear08 :D
someone has been hexing/prx decrypting :) (i think)
I did see this a bit ago - seems like it was back before 3.40 but I may be wrong.. Either way, though. With the news of the Sony NP9660 loader, as well as the news of the PSP store, it could be either. Dump your legal UMD to your PSP (would have to do per-PSP protection, or some manner of security checking) and play from there, or perhaps it is just PSP Store content. Who knows....
this also happens with killzone in downloads
I wasn't talking about internet downloadable games, I was talking about disc-downloads. I was thinking maybe Sony would do something similar to what Bungie did with the first new Halo 2 maps: you buy the disc, boot the disc, then install the content from the disc. Because, let's face it, not everybody has Wi-Fi, so maybe Sony will do this to get downloadable content out to people who don't have Wi-Fi.

And who's to say Kojima Productions didn't include something in the original code?
this is to install the updates from online games, they come up with the exact messages and stuff and installs a "game" to ur memory stick. the "game" im talking about is like the socom one, something appears on ur memory stick that ur psp identifies as a game. SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2 v1.10 Update is an example. it downloads that in the game and installs it. It also can't start the update.
Okay, sorry for posting this, I thought I had stumbled upon some great revelation, but apparently not.
