Well, I got an Acekard2i, and have been playing pokemon a lot more than usual (which already was a lot) and I'm getting tired of seeing lists of "OMG GAIZE BEST POKEMANZ EVAR" which were polluted with starters and legendaries. I stopped using legendaries in any of my teams back in Gen II, when I finally figured out that it was utter bullchocolate to even include one, and through a little work, you can uincunerate people who think that they are pokemon masters, when they really just have 6 legendaries per team.

10. Escavalier
I was looking through some newer pokemon a few months back, and when I saw Escavalier, I just about wet myself because of how badass it looked. After a few weeks, I added it to a team in pokemon-online, and I was amazed at how well it held up against the overused sweepers, like Haxxorus, or Tyranitar. Once you find that perfect combination of EV's, IV's, and Nature, I think that you'll be keeping him for a while.
9. Mismagius
Mismagius is the non-legendary equivalent to Darkrai, as far as I can tell; and Darkrai redefined the classical Hypnosis/Dream eater strategy that I loved. I can't think of much else to say. Maybe its her bewbies >_>'

8. Dragonite
Ahh. Dragonite. An oldie, sure, but still the single BEST dragon pokemon to date. Don't kid yourself. In pokemon yellow (My first pokemon game) I got a Dragonite, and He almost never left my team, because he just has so much strength. The combination of Fire/Flying runs very well with him, and I always thought that he is the only worthy replacement for Charizard. In the old games, there werent any great dragon attacking moves, so he relied on buffs to get the talk done, but even to this day, people use him in the same way: Attack first, ask quesitions later!
7. Alakazam
Yeah. Fuck you, Mewtwo. Alakazam is the only pokemon in the games that I would tuck my tail for, because he is so close to being a replica of Mewtwo. The fact that Alakazam isn't used as much as, say, Heatran, is disheartening, and is proof that the pokemon community is forgetting about the power that Kanto brought.
6. Jolteon
I remember in IRC when I asked if I should use Raichu, or This little chip off Tesla, and Lembas, without hesitation, said "JOLTEON". I really, really, really, really, REALLY, appreciate that. Jolteon is better that Raichu in one massive respect: SPEED. This little sparker is probably a worthy competitor for the Tesla line of electric supercars. Sure, he's made of lighting, or something, but he runs like that same lightning has BEEN GREASED!

When I first got Evee, my favorite Eveelution was Umbreon, but recently, Jolteon has -by far- taken the metaphorical cake.
5. Politoed
Politoed started out as a pokemon that I liked because it looked amazing, but now, it's more that it fights so damn well. Also because it looks amazing. When I first saw Politoed, I thought that it looked like a newborn, and I saw it in the anime a bit, but it never left an impression on me from them. The reason that Politoed made it onto the list is because I needed a pokemon to fill up my water slot in a team I was making, and over the course of about half of the game, I noticed that Politoed became my main pokemon in that team. Politoed just so happens to be one of the most trusty, and well running pokemon I've ever accidentally used.
4. Hitmontop
Hitmontop was always mysterious to me, because I never knew about the daycare trick to get all Eveelutions, and Hitmons, But I always knew about it, and thought that it was a really neat designed pokemon. I played beyblade as a child, and that was around the time that Gen II was reaching it's final breath, so obviously, I picked up on the hard-to-find pokemon, including this guy. I think that the reason why I like him so much is because I was already keen on the idea of fighting tops, because of beyblade, and when I finally got my first one, I was amazed at how much better he was than Hitmonchan and Lee. He is a destructive bastard, who can still take a hit (Hence the top design, to indicate a "balanced" fighting type, clearly.)
3. Blaziken
When I first started playing pokemon ruby, back in ancient times, I used Treeko, and it was all fine and dandy, until I restarted, just to try out Torchic. I fell in love. By the end of the 500+ hours I poured into that game, I wanted to marry that Blaziken, and the sameish feelings remained to this day, when I did a single run of Gen III. The fact that it was the ORIGINAL Fire/Fighting is enough in itself. That's like inventing sexy. By the end of the game, since it's a chicken, chances are that you have taught it Fire moves, Fighting moves, and Flying moves just from leveling, and that just works so damn well in the games. Now, I'm not one to use Swiss Army pokemon, but the amount of badassery that this guy has is undeniable.
2. Ludicolo
Of course this demigod mexican cliche made it onto the list, amirite? I fell in love with this pokemon when I was playing pogeymon-online, and realised that rain dish was SUPER BADASS. Mix ludicolo with Leftovers, Leech seed, Rain dance/Rain dish, and Giga Drain, and you've got yourself a damned Jeanne Calment. Moreso reasons why this beaner works so well is just that it's so fudgeing FAST. Seriously, this little guy runs like a bat out of hell, and raise it from a pup with pokerus, and you have yourself a team destroyer that just hates losing HP. And just to wrap it all up, Ludicolo just has such a fun personality in the games and anime. They say in the pokedex that if it hears festive music, it can't help but dance, but who could blame it? It was probably around for the macarana AND gangnam style giving how long it lives.

Holy spoon, I love this damn pokemon. This guy is the pokemon who made me break free from legendaries, and starter spamming. With this little bastard, and a little clever-ness, you can beat anyone. Any team. Any pokemon. You are a god. In Gen III, they introduced the pokemon Wynaut, and Wynaut had a move pool as Encore, Splash, and Light screen; Not too useful. except for one move, that makes Wobbuffet horribly powerful... Encore. Wobbuffet is a counter pokemon, he knows Counter, Mirror guard, Safeguard, and Destiny bond. Anyone who has gotten into the mechanics of pokemon know that there are two types of damage, Physical, and Special, Mirror guard counters Special, and Counter counters Physical, so you had to guess what the opponent would do in order to beat people. Wiath Encore, you don't have to. The opponent in forced to keep attacking, and taking their beating like a man, and can't run because of Wobbuffet's shadow tag, and counter/mirror guard always does double damage that the opponent deals. So basically, you win.
