Based on rumours, this could be the new PS4 controller.
same pattern on the touchpad as on the back of the Vita, makes sense.

4GB GDDR5 is still better then 8GB DDR3.

but the vast majority of people arent as intelligent or knowledgeable on technology standards as us. so to them their logic is:
"8GB is better cause 8 is bigger than 4, and wee don't know what "DDR3 or GDDR5" means so I'll just ignore it"
and given the majoirty of xbox players are 14-year old CoDfags with a headset shouting profanity at everyone who isn't the same nationality as them, sony need to put in 8GB as well.

That looks pretty bad

is there any point to adding a touchpad to the controller it seems just as gimmicky as sixaxis (and wee know how that turned out)... it'll probably be an excuse to charge us through the donkey for controllers and i guarantee that ps3 controllers won't work with the ps4 or some bullchocolate like that

bsanehi Wrote: [ -> ]4GB GDDR5 is still better then 8GB DDR3.Sure that's not just marketing bluff? I don't know much about graphics memory specifically, but for general PC system memory, speed hardly effects performance.
EDIT: I just realised it's an incredibly stupid comparison (in our case), the 8GB on the X720 is SYSTEM MEMORY, noone knows how much GRAPHICS MEMORY it has and what kind. Why the hell are wee comparing system memory with graphics memory? That's like saying my 2GB of memory on my GPU is faster than my 8GB of memory attached to my motherboard...
andrewcc Wrote: [ -> ]i doubt whether they'll keep the ps3 going for long after the ps4's release it just seems a very sony-like thing to fudge us over and the ps4 will have an entirely different cpu which means devs probably won't want to make games for it.x86 is the architecture used in modern PCs. It'll only be easier to program for because everyone has experience with it and pretty much everything compiles for it.

sorry andrewcc didnt mean to sound hostile
and yes memory speed really does affect performance in the case of gpus.

Since unlike programs the gpu uses all it available bandwidth on max load in games its a god help.
4gb GDDR5 is it will also depend on what kind of gpu they use to power this.
I know the PS3 uses same architecture in a 7800gt ultra nvidia card.

If they're using pure commodity parts, then there would be separate GPU and CPU memory, but it's feasible that a custom solution combines the two.
GDDR and DDR aren't that different, just the former typically operates at higher voltages and frequencies.

it's cool man
i do wonder though if they were going to keep releasing games for the ps3 is it safe to assume that devs will need to make 5 different versions of their games (assuming the same is true for the xbox 360)... this just makes me feel even more inclined to switch to PC
