so recently my oldest desktop has started to die on me... in the form of UNCORRECTABLE HARDWARE ERROR. i had the machine since 2006 and was going to replace the thing this year anyways, so I'm not too down about this

but its the 2nd computer item to break down on me within a year, which brings me back to the fact that my ps3 died and i havent really done anything to fix it.

for more info:

although before getting back to the main issue of the thread, and updating another item from the topic above.

well since i took your guys advice, although i did wait to get myself a S3 instead of the S2. and i am really liking this phone.

thanks for your suggestions and such
1100T to an FX6200 ?

IMO .. theres not much to gain,

i say upgrade to an ssd . maybe overclock a bit(?)

upgrade to latest gen gpu nvidia 6xx/ amd 7xxx if you're a heavy gamer
not that computer. those parts are not moving.

i have more than 1 desktop. besides i built the one in that thread like 2 years ago

i am going from 2 cores to another 6 core machine. and i am considering a better graphics card

6 core bulldozer isn't really 6 cores in the traditional sense.  Every 2 of bulldozer's 'cores' (ie. every bulldozer module) shares a lot of stuff, and is only really equivalent to 1.5 cores or something.
Def SSD! to install windows on,..

ohz Aha

well in that case..

id probably just get an FX4100 and an asrock 970 extreme3

re-use the 550w corsair

and put the money saved elsewhere .. say a better monitor or a better GPU or more storage ;)
None of those things you suggested are on Memory Express's stock listing Boogs

i dunno about SSDs, i am putting storage over speed since i am still using the other drives used in the old machine

sorry about that .. had to go somewhere so i couldn't edit earlier xD

why did you choose the UD5 anyway ? need any features in particular? cause there are a lot of other cheaper options :)

Spoiler for found some cheaper options for you :):

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 - 159.99 (149.99 after rebate)

ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
- 139.99 (119.99 after rebate)
Asus M5A97 - 94.99

AMD FX-4100 Processor 3.6GHz - 119.99

vs 149.99 for the FX6200

... also, why not get from NCIX? seems cheaper compared to memory express
Memory Express is considered local to me (like i can physically go there)

i will consider your suggestions Boogs
