Endless Paradigm - Upgrade RCO to 3.51M33

Ok I've spent a few days here comparing the decompressed RCO from 3.40 and 3.51 and I THINK I have nailed all the files that have new 'data' in 3.51.

So with that, I have put together a batch of scripts that go and do the muscle work to convert those rco to the new 3.51 compatable  :D

The files that require updating in order to work are:
Topemenu_plugin.rco
Game_Plugin.rco
Impose_plugin.rco
Msvideo_main_plugin.rco
Music_main_plugin.rco
Opening_plugin.rco
Premo_plugin.rco
Sysconf_plugin.rco
System_plugin_bg.rco
System_plugin_fg.rco
System_plugin.rco
Video_main_plugin.rco

ONE problem that I have found.  If your topmenu_plugin.rco has modified text fields for the icon names, those do not get transfered over :(  I have tried and tried but can't get that to work..maybe an update will fix that...maybe someone here knows more about rcotool than i and can lend a hand for an update...but believe me, changing a few icon names (or removing the text) is WAY easier than loading all these rco into RCOEdit and extracting and replacing.

SO on to the directions...

0. Backup your Flash0 folder on 3.51M33 to your pc
1. Put all of your RCO in a folder
2. Extract this contents to the folder and double click 2 clicks to upgrade.bat
3. Wait for the process to finish.
4. Copy your theme to /vsh/resource/
5. Done!

When it is done it will save all of your original .rco as .bak incase you want to go back to 3.40

DO NOT COPY ANY PRX FROM 3.40 to 3.51!!!
Only .rco for now.

Working on finding a way to check if the shadows/glows didnt extract properly to remove the surprise of finding original shadows/glows.

Nice one Schmilk , don't worry about the names , if i remember good the first app Nicinico made was the same , no custom names and X Y values , but this app is usefull , since it don't take too much time to make the RCO .

Edit: i don't see the blank in this package as well.

I didnt put the blank because then if the theme has shadows/glows they WILL be transfered over, and they DO work if they had them :)

I have noticed that if a theme was created using blank.dat instead of blank.bmp the original 3.40 file in rcoedit has 'invalid image' for the shadows/glows and when run through this converter it will have the original sony icon shadows glows :( one way to fix is go through and replace them manually, or use the original 303 to 340 converter which will fix all of those with blank.bmp then it will convert properly. Ive converted about 80 themes...and I have 90 more to go that don't have vsh/commongui/paf modifications. More than likely a large pack (around 300mb) will be put out somewhere. :)

I noticed that there are some 3.40 RCOs that are carried over to 3.51. I hope I'm not mistaken and maybe this could be re-confirm. But the following 3.40-OE RCOs are the ones I tested in 3.51 M33 and didn't find any issue or issues:

visualizer_plugin.rco

I am not 100% sure but they worked for me.;P

I went through rco edit and compared each file side by side and the ones that have new data are listed above. The rest can be used from your old 3.40 themes..except the .prx files of course!

I've updated hte batch to transfer over the sound files properly, so your boot sound and XMB clicks etc are all correctly migrated. :D

Have you verified the topmenu of 3.40 over 3.51? I am still using non-converted 3.40 OE topmenu and Have no problem with icons with text. Do you think wee can really use 3.40 OE topmenus on 3.51 M33 without conversion? No glows and shadows though.;)

i have no problems with my custom 3.40 topmenu on 3.51 m33 7. mines doesn't use glow or shadows so that is an unknown quantity for my topmenu.

Thanks for confirming. Have no problems with mine too and my topmenus don't use glow and shadow too. Cheers.:wink2:

If you compare all of hte textdata from the 3.40 to the 3.51 topmenu in rcoedit you will see there are a few new entries in the 3.51 topmenu...so...if/when you do something in the xmb that requires that function that's where you will lock up and have to reboot.

When I compared their textdata, there's only one data, msgshare_opt_del (delete), which is added in 3.51 topmenu. ;)
