PlayStation has released on its official Twitter page that the PlayStation Vita will be receiving an update soon.

Software version 1.80 came out a few weeks ago which implimented specific PlayStation 1 titles playable on the PS Vita. With that in mind, Sony had previously stated that constant little updates were not on its prerogative for its newest handheld console, since the upcoming 1.81 software update teased for tonight will only improve software stability. Specifically, the tweet said:

"PS Vita system software update 1.81 will be released soon. It's a minor update that improves software stability."

Perhaps this update won't be required. Wee'll keep you posted as the update goes live.

EDIT: And it's now live!

=========

Hopefully they'll patch the loophole so that devs will create more Vita games. ._.
time for airplane mode, ill wait if they also not allow access ps store in 1.80 firmware
So basically "stability improvement" just means blocking vita homebrew loader (vhbl)
Screw that.  If SONY tries blocking vhbl, I am taking a stand and refusing to update.  Reminds me of the psp days all over again  ;P
DON'T PATCH VHBL
Ahhhh too late im already updating. Not sure if i could no longer access PS store but i couldn't do CMA and stuff.

Im not using vhbl so doesn't bother me.

Edit: well if anyone wants to play little big planet online you'll have to update.
VHBL is so harmless I don't get why they'd bother to block it.

If it's anything to do with the full Vita exploit however it's understandable.
Unfortunately for those who want to use the exploit this update is not optional >w> But what is the point of their optional updates when as soon as a non optional update is rolled out the user looses access to PSN?
