Probably the closest Apple has gotten to blocking sales of Android itself:

Quote:A U.S. District Court has handed Apple a victory against one of its biggest competitors in the smartphone market by blocking U.S. sales of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh granted Apple a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus phone, which went on sale in the United States in mid-December.

This is the second Samsung Galaxy product blocked by Koh this week: On Tuesday, she granted Apple a preliminary injunction against U.S. sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer.

Koh granted the injunction after Apple argued that the Galaxy Nexus phone caused it irreparable harm due to long-term market-share loss and "losses of downstream sales," according to The Next Web.

Quote:Apple sued for patent protection on the following software features:

        1. A means of detecting and marking up data like a phone number or an e-mail address, and then initiating a phone call or an e-mail when the linked data is clicked
        2. A means of searching multiple databases and sources for data.
        3. A slide to unlock feature.
        4. An autocorrect-type function that completes the word as a user types and allows the user to accept or reject the word.

Reuters reports that the decision appears to have been driven by Apple's claim to the patent to search multiple sources, which Apple says is the basis of Siri. Reuters reporter Dan Levine, who was in the courtroom at the time of the ruling, tweeted that Judge Koh said "'Apple has articulated a plausible theory of irreparable harm' [because] of 'long-term loss of market share and 'losses of downstream sales.'"

I'm not so bothered when Apple complain about companies infringing on their hardware patents (except for tablets, that is) but software should be left alone - preferably all software patents made null and void.
Apple Get the fudge out! Is it me or is this company acting like a spoiled brat?
Not really Reisen. If they patented those features, Samsung should have never used them. They could've thought of their own unlock mechanism at least. I liked Samsung at first, but once they released a phone that looked the same as the iPhone and that table that looked like an iPad, I lost faith in them.

That can't work for similar reasons why having no hardware patents doesn't work.
Samsung isn't the developer of Android, though. And essentially, Android is Linux which is open source. Why hasn't Apple sued Canonical for copying the Finder bar yet?
:U well fudge.
Goddamnit! I was so excited, I was about to buy this phone! Apple, if you're going to play the "They took our idea" game, then microsoft should sue you for taking their idea of the tablet compuer, and of course you sue samsung, where you have a fighting chance, even though the phone rns android, which is made by google, sueing samsung for android would be like sueing Media Molecule for the ps3, because they made games for it. You are pussyfooting around, and sueing everyone you can to get a couple extra bucks, let's see how well you'd do if you sued Goole, the company that is actually responsible. I don't know about the rest of the void, but fudge apple, I am in Samsung's corner.

Android is open-source, and as such it should full under fair use. This block is ridiculous and it should mean the block of every 4.0 device on the market (and even 2.x and 3.x, since the slide-to-unlock is present) utterly destroying competition (which is exactly what Apple wants). Apple's actions are anti-competitive and its a joke the courts are taking them seriously.

Apple are just butt-hurt and continuing to troll.
