It's sad that most popular songs do use the same chords.  When I decided to start learning to play most of the songs that I liked as a kid, I realized it's just the same chords, just strummed differently.  Like Third Eye Blind's "Semi Charmed Life" and Better Than Ezra's "Good", has the same chords as Journey's "Anyway You Want It".

The first two sound really similar.  The only thing that kind of separates Journey's song, is the fact that it's strummed differently.  Other than that, the chorus has the same 4 chords.

Depends on how much you can retain it being music, lol.
Or just take out the time and key signatures altogether.
