Gameplay-Screen!:
I must say, if I'm honest, that I don't think much to homebrew games. Take homebrew applications, like emulators, programmes etc, they're great - in fact, some of the programmes are genius. But games just cannot match up to expectation (like the real pokémon for example). They are like a bad demo.
Today, I tried a Rayman homebrew (and it was the latest version) - there was actually NOTHING to do... you walked to the next screen and it was a dead end with nothing do actually do, except jump (on water?!)
I also tried Mariokart Homebrew (again, latest version), and it was like one of those crappy mobile phone games, not Mariokart at all.
I did a while back, try PSPokemon, and with similar results - walked up to next screen, but nothing to do.
So, although I admire the effort that goes into these, I think I'll give the homebrew gaming scene a miss.
(Except Rom patches - like (Super Metroid Redesign) - cause that's a different kettle of fish, and they are usually excellent).
Edit - if someone can point out a worthwhile homebrew game that I could at least sit down for a couple of hours and crack on with, please tell me :D
There are good homebrew out there - I haven't really played many but I know they exist. I recall a Zelda one to be pretty good. Cave Story?
On the other hand, there are also a lot of poo poo as well.
I'll look up the Zelda one, but I bet it doesn't match up to the Parallel Worlds ROM patch. Lol at the poo-poo ;)
Confusing....
The thread Zinga linked is an older version, is it not?
This one is the more recent version, no?
I don't think trying to make the word 'later' ambiguous, worked very well
....Unless it's just me, but I'm in UK and it's now 4am (What the hell am I doing up?!) so I'm knackered...
