i feel like I'm constructing these once a year now. even though i still didnt use the case i already had in my inventory. this time I'm not using any recycled parts.

my plans are to have this computer at least dual boot windows and some version of linux, although I'm not sure what version i should install

Parts:
Case: Antec One Mid-tower Case
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k Processor 3.30GHz
MB: Giga-byte GA-Z68X-UD3H with dual DDR3 2133, 7.1 audio, Gigabit Lan, 1394, CrossFireX / SLI
Ram: 8GB Cosair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel
OD: 24x DVD drive
HDD: Seagate 2TB HDD
PSU: Cosair Builder Series CX600 v2
OS disks: Windows 7

Day 1:
collected parts and did nothing as I'm trying to finish games that i abandoned for many reasons

Day 2:
Started build. it took less time to make sure everything was in its proper place and workings.
the cables are still a mess... lol. i guess you can't really change that fact.

No (discrete) GPU?

Pretty sure he's building this so he can emulate (PS2 and other stuff) better.  So probably just use his old GPU.

For PS2 emulation pretty much you just need a (very) powerful CPU with high single core performance (i5/i7 at 4Ghz will be able to emulate almost everything without using any speed hacks), with at least 2 cores (but any more than 2 doesn't help), and a DX11 supporting GPU that's not totally bad (so any cheap-ish $150 GPU should be just fine).

Though if I were him, I would just overclock his current PC (Phenom 2?) to like 4GHz, that should work just fine.
I would recommend against using a 2TB as a boot drive.

no this isn't what this machine is for. otherwise there would be a GPU
2500k! :D:D:D:D

is this new though? . if it is .. pity, shouldve waited for the 3rd gen intels release at the end of the month

What are you using it for then?
would you believe somebody paid me to build it?

Apparently delayed til June.
i5 3570K is probably only about 10% faster than a 2500K though.

Is that somebody you?
