Apple has annonced the next release of (Mac) OS X 10.8 will be called Mountain Lion and will include many more features inspired by iOS. The new iCloud integration is much more like Dropbox showing why they made a move to try and buy them. There is Twitter integration from applications now and much more.
Features which are new/improved
- iCloud - More Dropbox like syncing
- Messages - Send messages to iMessage, AIM, Jabber, Google Talk, and Yahoo! Messenger users
- Reminders - To do lists synced to all devices

So Mac is no longer Mac and only an X divides it from iOS. At this rate they're gonna fuse together. >_>
I don't know what is going on with Apple now-a-days but I'm more and more glad to invest in a new PC. Honestly, they've been turning into a second Sony slowly over the years but now this is getting ridiculous. Why don't they just dump the computers and stick with the "i-Technology" as it's abundantly clear that is what they care about now.
Lion was a bust. Last OS X I used that was worth using was Snow Leopard. Pretty sure this is gonna be a flop too. Lion just came out and they're already jumping to 10.8. It's like Mozilla all over again.
^ Apparently they're switching to yearly releases. Not quite Mozilla but an acceleration for Apple nevertheless.
Eh, still not up to the half-yearly releases of popular Linux distros :P
I've been playing with Lion in VM. Nothing special really, I was surprised. I agree that Snow Leopard was the last 'good' release.
a whole new version for reminders, notes and icloud?
these features could be implemented as programs you just download.
It seems that there's a push to integrate more things into the OS.
Just look at Windows...
[rant] I say it's the effect of technology being increasingly aimed at tech illiterate people
(although arguably, also for those who can't be bothered setting things up)
Surely Apple should eventually need to be forced to make a cut down version a la Windows 7 N?
I'd much prefer if laptops in Europe sold with 7 N but they're not - I don't understand what the EU have achieved by making MS create these editions that aren't used by manufacturers.
