According to emails being sent out to PlayStation Notwork users, Sony is planning on changing their online service’s name.
The newly named “Sony Entertainment Network” is set to become the official name of the service on February 8, 2012. It is
not clear whether this will actually mean anything significant, but perhaps Sony is trying to shut out doubts that crept in back
when their security was compromised last year.
The email reads:
It appears that Sony is trying to go in a different direction, much like the direction Microsoft went in when it secured
other entertainment media like Netflix and other applications. Fortunately, as mentioned in the email, this change will
not mean users will have to change their PSN ID or password. Only one thing will be noticeable from the change outside
of the name, and that is a new terms of service agreement that must be confirmed before using the SEN on both the PS3
and PS Vita.
