First off, not a single fudge is given on my part about the demise of Megaupload. Perhaps people will use a not-spoon file-host now.
Second, part of the reasons they got shut down because they were heavily encouraging piracy - unpopular files get deleted, popular files earn rewards for the uploader in actual money, that sort of thing.
It qualified as racketeering or something.
Other hosts don't do reward programs, (I think), and this is apparently why.

Maybe they'll shut down ShareCash and Fileice.

Fileserve is like the worst shit ever.
How so? The time limits are bearable and they are the fastest file locker without account - for me at anyway.

Brilliant! Now I have to reupload all the files I'm sharing on other sites! Happiest day of my life!

- Stupid timer that doesn't go down when you go to a new tab.
- Captchas, the annoying kind.
- Download restrictions per time.
- Randomly DC's in the middle for me a lot, then I can't start it again because of the above.
- Also FS doesn't work with EP's RPNet thing any more.
As for fastest, not a chance. MU goes at like 800KB/sec for me, without premium. Maybe because I'm in Australia and so I'm downloading stuff during low traffic times when the Americans are all sleeping, dunno.
Mediafire and MU are the best for me.

Interesting, must be the difference in location.
For free, nothing is comparable for me. Mediafire is horribly slow.
CAPTCHAs/Download Restrictions are pretty normal for free file locker downloads.
Shame you've lost MU :>

Mediafire goes at like ~100KB/s or something for me. Slow-ish, but then again people generally only host small things there, so its fine. Also, you can download multiple things at the same time with Mediafire, to make it faster.
Most of the time I just use RPNet premium these days though. And for large things like games, generally torrent.

Silvertie Wrote: [ -> ]Other hosts don't do reward programs, (I think), and this is apparently why.Actually most of them do I believe - it's why most people upload to them (to get the reward programs) and some inflating smaller files to push the 1MB threshold.
I believe one of the main points is that MU were fairly lax with copyright takedown notices. Yes, they did delete them sometimes, but they'd often be rather slow about it (understandable, it makes them money). However, it's not like they lacked the ability to take stuff down faster - stuff like child hershey kisses got removed fairly quickly always.
That's what I've heard at least.
I'm a little confused over where it's based though, there seems to be people in New Zealand and Germany, but it's a Hong Kong based company?

Just a heads up. Several phishing sites are popping up claiming to be MU now.
109.236.83.66
This is one of them but apparently it's not online now. It claims that they don't have a domain yet but the IP resolves to satuno.net...
