well on one of the news page it says what will be diffrerent and theres very little. its mostly cosmetic with the only actual hardware being added is a tv out function.
is there any speculation on how they do the tv out? i didn't see an hdmi port on it... what, are they going to output thru usb...? or is it outputting thru wifi, to a ps3, to the tv? so wee need a ps3 to use the only new feature on this fudgeing piece of spoon, god damnit, sony fudgeing sucks.

edit: found the answer to my question, sort of. undoubtedly an outlet for some fancy new sony exclusive accessories.

They'll probably add some line of code in 4.00 that makes it so that if you try to downgrade it bricks your psp or something.
i like the slimmer design actually ;o

but hopefully they didn't added some nasty hardware protections...
and the damn power slider also should be on top!! gnarrr
I agree. When I first got my PSP I kept accidentally turning it off when I would really get into a game. I hate having the power slider on the side.
I like it.

The only problem I have is the position of the speakers. It should stay somewhere near the bottom.

Changes I noticed

  1. slimmer
  2. Battery now has an eject button instead of a simple cover (for slimness)
  3. Speakers moved
  4. UMD slide button has been removed. A simple notch is used instead to open the UMD
  5. added TV-out
  6. IR port has been removed.
  7. 3.60 firmware. Yup 3.60
how useful is that? Tv out... but curses the 3.60 firmware.

i would have to call it "PSP Redux" never "PSP slimline" or "PSP 2" or "PSP wide"

... what? *tries to watch the video posted* either it is 3.50 Slim or 3.60 standard. i can't tell too blurry. somebody would need to watch the uncompressed version to figure out which one that thing is using...

{edit} Here you go. Source: YouTube

it's bit more cleaner than the other one. and 3.60 firmware

Here are my comments...
i might only get one to play UMD games since it's a faster system. although the UMD drive looks bad. it doesn't look that slimmer (19% come on, i bet its 19% wider) wi-fi switch on the top? maybe that is better, since mine keeps somehow flicking to off...

verdict: 3/6 for now.
where can i find the psp info sites?
unless he is going under a new name... so sony doesn't know.

only good for playing umds... i guess until somebody can get though to it.
They'd have to keep the firmware distribution the same because they risk alienating the huge number of people that don't have Wi-fi. Also, in the Engadget pics, I noticed the analog stick looked different.

On a side note, I don't see why Sony didn't just do what Microsoft did and market their own homebrew coding software. Maybe make it cost $30-40, and people can legally make and play their own homebrew. It's working for Microsoft, and Sony seems to like copying things off their rivals, so why not. Also, it could coincide with their proposed PSP download service.
Double post
Instead of cracking down on homebrewers and trying to prevent it, they could just accept it and embrace it.
that reminds me... i talked to one of those "The Sony Store" guys today about customization of PSPs and such. something about adding Sony down loadable themes or something.
