Probably can, but with the problem already fixed (rang up ISP and got them to replace s
hitty modem with a new one that works), don't really need it now. As long as it doesn't continuously disconnect, I can live with wireless.

My router disconnects at times too, it's really annoying. I'm using a Linksys WRT160N-RM. I had no problems with it the first 2 years I had it, but now every time my sister tries to connect to the router with her laptop, it disconnects the Internet for 5-10 minutes. This usually happens when one of us is downloading something :/
I've noticed random dropouts on the other computer here, which is connected to the modem via USB.
My computer, which is connected via Ethernet, is fine.
So if it's going through USB, try using something else.
