Does anyone know of a way to login with a key combination instead of a password prompt?
Ideally I could click my username and instead of being prompted for a password hit like [ctrl]+[alt]+[u] and have it unlock my computer or sign me in...
so uh... yeah
anyone ever seen this done or know of a way to do this?
if you set no password and you lock your PC it defaults to Ctrl + Alt + Del to unlock.
I have the Logitech G-11 keyboard, and keep many passwords assigned to different keys. A programmable keyboard is an option too.
Write something that runs on startup in whatever lang or even vbs lol to lock the system down and handle the unlocking whichever way you want.
Why stop at a key combo, you could take it further and have a speech recognition login system...
Also look to see what libs are available in your lang of choice.
I just wonder how secure that actually is. Also since I always lock my computer with the Windows+L key combo I think the default security would just take over
Logging in with just a key combination isn't secure anyway, so I don't see why you'd be worrying.
Locking your computer isn't particularly secure either (easily bypassed by rebooting).

I just lock it so that computer illiterate idiots in the dorm can't walk up to it and be like... HEY A COMPUTER! :D
also I have windows display the login screen on boot,
and yes if someone truly wanted to 'borrow' my PC they could just take it remove the HD and format it later
I'm pretty sure you can edit the combination in the registry...
OR
You could remove the ctrl, alt, delete buttons from your keyboard and put them on a usb keychain! :D
or you know, use a password like a normal human being
