Realistically that is.
What speed would you like to have, that you could realistically make use of, say, over next year? (so don't put down something like 10Gbps up/down, cause I really doubt anyone could fully make use of that)

Note, referring to achievable speeds, not rated speeds (that is, assume a 8Mbps actually does deliver 1MB/sec).

I'd probably be plenty happy with a 25Mbps down 15Mbps up.  Realistically I doubt I could use any more than that in the near future.
I've got a 20mbps down 3mbps up connection now, and I'm pretty happy with it, although I wouldn't mind a better up speed.

I sure as hell would. You should see the list of albums I'm trying to download on a 10 year old DSL connection and modem.
Anything that is more than 10Mb/s DL is good enough for me seeing as that was the previous one I had and I was ok with it. The only thing that made me change to my current provider was that I paid a few dollars less for 3 times as fast.

Emptyone This isn't even my home connection. It's slower.
Realistically speaking, dunno, 8Mbit/s down is probably enough, up doesn't matter too much as I hardly ever upload anything, but preferably not too shitty (lets say 1Mbit/s).  The problem for me isn't really speed, but quota (most Australian internet plans have quotas).  Needless to say, I would prefer unlimited or a high cap like 100GB/month.

All the above is assuming I live by myself and thus have the whole internet to myself.  In reality, that's not the case, so probably like 30Mbit/s and 500GB+ cap (sharing with siblings, parents, and 2 downstairs people who rent the house).
20mbps down 5mbps up 24/7?

id be happy ..

currently, i get about 200 KBPS down and 40 up :))))
2000kB/s sis fine for me Yay i think i got 2700 or 3000kB/s

Crud... thought it was faster.
i use a wide range of connections in different houses i visit, and i find anything lower then 1Mbps is a bit slow for me, my dad lives in a very small and (for this area) remote part of the town, so they're being slow about improving his internet, so most of the time, the connection is 500KB/s.

where i am now is not too far away from there, but i can pick up one of the UK's best connections (virgin) which means i get around 2MB/s peaks, but averagely around 1MB/s, this is still plenty good speeds

in my uni house, from what i tested (for like a day), it's on a fibre optic virgin connection, so it can max, and sit comfortably at 5MB/s!!! i personally think this is more then i need, seen as a lot of websites in the uk seem to load slower then that, but it's not something I'm going to complain about :).

so, what i was trying to say was, anything around 1MB/s - 2MB/s is good for me:)
