Besides the aspect that PS Vita will have a front and a back camera, wee don’t know anything else about this important feature of the new second generation of portable yet. However, wee have some news for the fans of the new device. Sony finally announced some technical specifications, so you would know what to expect from the new device.

The cameras will have the same characteristics, both of them being 320 x 240 cameras on QVGA and 640 x 480 when operating on VGA. In simple words, you will benefit from two cameras with 1.3 megapixels.

Not much, considering that the new smartphones have cameras with 3.0 pixels resolution, but let’s face it: the camera is not the most important characteristic of a gaming console. A few games will use it, and you might need it to take pictures of your friends from time to time but those characteristics of the cameras are more than enough to create an enjoyable experience for the player.

1.3 megapixels?
lol why even have it there in the first place?
640 × 480 = 307,200, so that's 0.3MP not 1.3MP.
1.3MP is actually quite decent at around 1280x960, assuming the lenses are good (which probably aren't).
yea. the cameras are so poo poo, they shouldn't have bothered.
probably wouldnt have made much of a difference if it was cameraless.
the cameras maybe for ar games i guess, so higher pixels don't need in it, and besides if they need higher lenses, the price may drop high again and only rich kids will bother buying this console
Still one camera short of the 3DS... Let's just hope it's not another infrared port (well, it probably won't bomb as much. But still).
