Sony has revealed that the PS Vita can be used as a controller for the PlayStation 3 much like what the Wii U has to offer with it’s revolutionary controller.

Speaking at the Develop Conference in Brighton a couple of weeks ago, Sony Europe R&D manager Phil Rogers has said that among all possibilities, the primary one would be that ability to “drive a display” from a PS3 game to the Vita screen.

“PS3 can send data down to Vita and Vita can display it. You could use the unique features of Vita – gyroscope, touch front and back – as a control device for a PS3 game” he said.

“You can run software on both devices and use the network to sync the game states. And that’s pretty good, because you then have the processing power of PS3 doing that work, Vita [doing] fancy graphics – however you want to do it. You’re not sacrificing the PS3′s CPU to be able to have a rich experience on Vita.”

Rogers said that the idea was fairly new and encouraged to developers to come forth with any ideas or suggestions to build up on this.

Cross platform gaming, remote play and the PSN will be available at launch according to Rogers. He also added that developers will be able to patch in support for Vita on their games and that they want to encourage developers to do so.

There’s a push from our third-party team for encouraging licensees to be having those features [cross-platform, continuation play] in game,” he said.

lol @ Nintendo.

That is all.
Looking good.
Lol, makes the Wii U seem less attractive.
And the Vita isn't as big as whatever the Wii U's controller is.
