RULES Wrote:PM me an image of your desktop theme, and post in this thread that you are entering.
The proper format for the pm would be to send me both a picture of the image, and a code box with the image img tagged for me to post it in the competition. This makes it a thousand times easier for me to post large polls. As I am requesting you guys to make something easy for me, I have included this template to make it easier for you:
Code:
[img]YOUR.IMAGE.HERE[/img]
just replace YOUR.IMAGE.HERE with the actual link to your image, and put [code] before [img] and a closing [code] after [/img] (that means put a / in front of the word code)
DO NOT POST YOUR PICTURE IN THIS THREAD
In about 1-3 days I will close the entry period, at which point I will make the voting thread.
If you require a reasonable extension, pm me and I will have no problem lengthening the entry period. I have kept the entries open for well over a week in the past, and have no qualms with doing so, but don't be a pocky about it and just put off entering because you feel you can take advantage of the system. If someone asks for an extension every single month, and then fails to submit any entry at all, I will have a hard time granting them an extension.
Multiple entries are encouraged, and, multiple screenshots of the same desktop will be allowed! All the entries will be spoiler tagged in the voting, and multiple screenshots will allow everyone to show off their window theme, music player, etc. Due to the character limit in the polls, if you are submitting multiple entries, give me short links to the image. A good rule of thumb would be that you can submit 2 full imageshack links, and probably 3-4 shortened links (i.e. bt.ly). Also, don't get mad if I can't post like 20 screenshots, I'll choose the best ones, I promise.
If you send me a picture of the default theme (of any OS), with only a wallpaper changed, your entry will not be considered.
Entries from any OS are welcome (windows, OSX, linux, BSD, solaris, haiku, etc, etc)
Have some respect. If someone submits an entry that you think is "lol dumb", I don't want to hear about it. If you don't like it, then don't vote for it, but if I see someone mocking another person for their entry, that person WILL be barred from entering the next competition, no questions asked. I haven't had any situation where I've had to do this, but I think its better to address the issue before it becomes one. This isn't to say that criticism is unwelcome. If you have an actual suggestion (i.e. "you should move your taskbar to the top of the screen and make your system info slightly more transparent") then that is absolutely welcome. But theres a difference criticism like that and "lol macfag desktop is fail". This includes any kind of OS war, flaming, or other such attacks.
Stay on topic in these threads. This is not a general discussion thread, it is a competition entry thread. If you want to chat, that's perfectly fine, but this thread is used more to keep track of entries and discuss the competition, not to talk about the weather. The same goes for the voting thread. The only thing that belongs in that thread is discussion of the voting, content, and competition, nothing else.
Other than that, no nsfw entries and wee should be good!
technically, this should be competition #7, but i never posted the voting for #6, due to hardcore lack of entries. therefore, to keep with a fair versioning scheme, im going to truncate back to #6 for this month, and continue in this fashion.
the current date of entry closing is Sunday, July 23rd at 11:59pm CST. the voting thread will be posted the following Monday.
