Endless Paradigm

Where do I start? As in tutorials or whatever...
I got paid today so I'm gonna put some aside to buy components and stuff and then eventually it will be ready to use.

I have a budget of maybe £200 a month depending on how it goes.

I only know of this guide here in particular.

Plenty of people on the internet willing to determine parts for you.
As for building, order parts and plonk them together.  Most of the time, components only go in one way, so as long as you don't try to break anything, you should be able to get most of it.  Can always fall back to Youtube videos on how to install X if you're having trouble.
If not that, pay a nerdy friend £10 to build it for you.

Most of building a PC is common sense as most parts only really fit in one place.
Anything that is not so obvious like the case wiring can be solved by looking in the motherboard manual.
The motherboard manual contains a step by step guide from mounting the board in the case right up to setting up the BIOS.

I'm sure people here or I could help if you had an issue you needed help with.

Here is a list of parts needed just for everything in and including the case (I bet I forget something,  lol)

These first few items are not really affected by your intel/AMD choice.
Case - Find a nice good looking and good quality one as cheap cases start sounding nasty after a while.
Case Fans - If case of choice does not come with enough already or for extra cooling.
PSU - You should get one with enough watts to power everything in your system plus a little more for future system expansion.
Hard Drive - You could beg borrow get donated or 'borrow' an old one from somewhere to save a few £s until a later date.
DVD Drive - Same as above, lol
SATA Cable - If you get a SATA HDD

These few items really depend on which way you go intel or AMD and on how far you want to push that budget.
You may also be able to find a good deal on a Motherboard Bundle.
Motherboard
CPU + CPU Fan / Heatsink + Arctic Silver Compound
RAM

Graphics Card - Then theres the nvidia or ATI war,  lol

Last of all an OS to install on that sucker to make that useless box useful and to stop you getting beeped off looking at that black screen when the system halts,  lol

So to sum up...  If you think you really do have some common sense then you should be fine with building yourself.

Oh and the golden rule careful how you handle the parts as you don't want to kill them with static from you.

If your on a limited budget, I'd go for a barebones and then upgrade over time, that's what I did.

Lol I "borrowed" 2 160GB HDD from my current workplace as they got replaced after some computers failed from crashing as such, I knew the HDD weren't the prob, but replacing seemed to fix it, and the suspect problem drives are happily in use 18hrs a day lol

The building itself is easy.  Trust me, you can do it no probs.

Could get a cheaper PSU.  £80 for a PSU is a bit on the heavy side...

I think you can pick up a 700W for £80~ a 550 is more £59-£60 or even less to be honest. Try Novatech.co.uk and see what their prices are like?

Bundle case and PSU for moar savings (just make sure the bundled PSU is decent).
If you already have a case, you can always use that, and probably the PSU too (unless it's like <300W and you want to use a GPU with it).
