no problem, it's not technically piracy if you are just getting a spare copy Specky
And I thought like all good companies, if asked, they would send out the recovery CD's, why don't laptops/desktops pre installed with OS's do this anymore. Now it seems like they just cba to do it and instead make the purchaser make recovery cd's, that's if they actually include a reminder app. I remember the old 98 and ME machines came with recovery disks, no it's just awkward if your not technically minded.

They make you pay for it. HP's recovery CD is $15.
Still, CDs are dead cheap these days - one would expect for a couple of extra cents, they'd just throw in the CD.
Glad you fixed it.
Normally the PC facturer put on the hard disk RECOVery Partition , wich usually is accesed from the boot menu , when the PC starts.
But , if you do recovery to factory defaults you lose every file you had unless it have option for saving your files. I saw it on some Pcs.
Anyway in the recovery mode im pretty sure there is also this option to recover the boot only , like from recovery CD.
Plus every OEM DVD have this option also. The best thing before doing anything is reading the manual of the PC , in the recovery section.
