anyways i thank DAX for his work and i am now looking at new horizons, have wee forgotten about becus25's custom firmwares, whos to say that he won't continue with his work and maybe surpass DAX?
anyways i have come to accpet this in the little time that it was announced, and i realize that its not the end of the world, wee still have a psp community with lots of promising developers and one of them will for sure pick up where DAX left off

as for the line of code in the FW i think that its just a petty threat that sony doesn't have the guts to carry out, after all ppl who know about the possibilites that psp has, will probably less keen to buy one today if they knew that there was no hacking involved (member i said ppl who know the psp scene and are gonna get one for the first time) anyways i have high hopes for the future of psp still :)

That is bad news, but he's done alot for the whole community and that's what is important.  I'd hate to imagine where the scene would be now without his work on downgraders and custom firmwares.  

If Sony did put some sort of warning in the firmware then I'm sure they would follow through with it.  In Europe what Dark_Alex does is right on the line of being legal or illegal, and Sony would force any sort of lawsuit as far as they could.  They've already had people doing hard-mods on consoles arrested in a few countries there, and probably feel like they will win any lawsuit after shutting down Lik-Sang.  I wouldn't ask anyone to endure that kind of bullchocolate just so my PSP isn't the boring piece of poo poo Sony is determined to make it.

Whatever it was that made him leave the scene, he has done alot for all of us and I (as I'm sure everyone is) am very thankful for it.  Custom firmwares certainly aren't dead though, becus25 is looking at upgrading the IE series to 3.50 or 3.51, and hopefully other talented people will look at picking up the custom firmware torch.

Dark_Alex will always be a god and legend of homebrew, it's just too bad that his era has ended.

on the other side, atleast he has opened and left a whole world of PSP hacking that wee should be thankful for...

I just wish that he would release the source for his custom firmwares, that way those who are doing their own right now like becus25 could use his stellar firmware as the base for their own.

Also, is he going to finish patching the Sony ISO loader, or is that dead too?

can't another dev continue the custom firmware releases? i mean judging by the speed of the oe rlses after the official fw's its not too much work anymore since its already cracked etc
